UZO Mission

United Ukrainian Organizations (UZO) are the only uniting organization of the Ukrainian community of the Greater Cleveland.

UZO is a center of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) in the Greater Cleveland and North-East Ohio area. Under the UZO patronage, political, religious, youth, educational, veteran, scientific, professional, musical, fraternal, credit, financial, charity, immigration, and other civic organizations have been working actively for 75 years.

Among the most important events in the UZO activity were:

  • Erecting monuments in the Ukrainian Cultural Garden in Cleveland and Taras Shevchenko monument in Washington,
  • Commemorating the Week of the Suppressed Peoples, 200 years of the USA 1000 years of Christianity in Ukraine,
  • Funding the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington and various fundraising to support the restored Ukrainian State.
  • Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the 1932-1933 Artificial Famine in Ukraine,
  • Conducting other commemorations and political manifestations to protect human rights in Ukraine.

UZO represents the Ukrainian community in general American forums. Having the experience of 75-year-long work and support of the constituent organizations, UZO plan to continue its activity for protection of the Ukrainian identity under conditions of our diaspora's life. Even during the times of some political misunderstanding in the Ukrainian communities of the USA, the UZO managed to maintain our Cleveland community united and strong.
